One person killed in plane crash near Brantford

A plane crash in Brant County has claimed the life of a 57-year-old Hamilton man.

The single-engine Cessna 172RG went down in a field on Green Lane just east of the Brantford Municipal Airport around 5:20 p.m. on Monday.

Emergency crews pulled a man from the aircraft. He was taken to hospital where he were pronounced dead. Brant County OPP have since identified the man as John Bacon, 57, of Hamilton.

The Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
