St. Thomas police find $19K worth of cocaine inside vehicle

Charges have been laid against a man after St. Thomas police seized $19,000 worth of cocaine during a traffic stop in the city.

Officers with the street crimes unit stopped the vehicle Wednesday night. Approximately 4.5 ounces of the illegal drug were found inside the vehicle, police said.

Further investigation and a search of the suspect's home allegedly turned up drug packaging materials and scales.

A 36-year-old St. Thomas man is charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking. He has been released from police custody with a future court date.
