UPDATE: Downtown fire deemed 'suspicious'

London police are investigating after a fire broke out at a downtown apartment building Wednesday night.

Sometime around 8:25 p.m., firefighters responded to the scene of a fire on the seventh floor of a high-rise located at 580 Dundas Street.

Crews were able to quickly knock down the blaze and began ventilating the building a short time later. Paramedics arrived and two patients were assessed. No injuries were reported.

Damage is estimated at around $10,000.

In an update provided on Thursday, London police say the cause of the fire has been deemed suspicious.

Officers with the Street Crime Unit have been assigned to investigate with assistance from the London Fire Department.
