Woman facing assault charges

The St. Thomas Police Service (STPS) made an arrest after responding to an alleged assault on Friday evening.

Police said that a woman reported being assaulted by another woman, within a St. Thomas residence, and that the accused had fled before police arrived.

Officers searched the area and located the 34-year-old suspect a short distance away from the home.

Upon her arrest, STPS said the woman struck an officer in the face, which resulted in a charge of assaulting a police officer.

No serious injuries have been reported.

The accused woman was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
