13 charged in St. Thomas John sweep

Police in St. Thomas say 13 men face charges after a John sting in the city.

The St. Thomas Police Service says the human trafficking investigation lasted three days and the 13 men range in age from 24 to 75.

They are all charged with communicating for the purpose of obtaining sexual services.

In a news release announcing the charges, police also provided links to resources for victims of human trafficking.

Those links include the St. Thomas police website (www.stps.on.ca), Victim Services (www.victimserviceselgin.com), Violence Against Women Services Elgin (www.vawsec.on.ca/contact-us), and the Canadian Human Trafficking Hotline (www.canadianhumantraffickinghotline.ca/)

"If you are a victim of sexual violence or you know someone who is, please reach out for help," police said.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
