Charges laid in separate speeding incidences

The Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a man with racing on London Road while the London Police Service (LPS) made a similar stop on Riverside Drive near Wonderland Road.

The first incident occurred on Wednesday at approximately 7:15 p.m. when a Huron OPP officer stationed just south of Exeter said they observed a delivery van driving at a high rate of speed.

OPP said that the van was travelling more than 50 kilometres per hour above the posted speed limit.

The driver, a 23-year-old man from London, has been charged and had his licence suspended for 30 days. The van has also been impounded for two weeks.

LPS made a similar stop in London, where they found a driver to be travelling at more than double the posted speed limit. Police reported that the vehicle was going 104 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

The driver was charged with stunt driving, failing to stop for police, and a number of other infractions. Similarly to the first case, the car was impounded for 14 days and the driver's licence was suspended for 30.
