Man arrested twice within several hours

The St. Thomas Police Service (STPS) responded to the call of an unknown man entering a home on Princess Avenue early Saturday morning.

STPS said that after the front door was forced open a 50-year-old man made his way to the bedroom, and laid down in the bed beside the homeowner.

The man was arrested and charged with mischief and being unlawfully in the person's home. He was later released with a future court date.

Within two hours, police said they were called to an address on Elm Street for reports of an unwanted person, where they witnessed the previously arrested man leaving the home. Officers reported that they then saw him cross the street, kick open a door to an office building, and enter.

The 50-year-old was arrested for a second time without incident and transported to the police station where he will be held in custody until his court date.
