House explosion near Wardsville was arson: OPP

A house explosion near Wardsville last month was the result of arson, according to police and fire officials.

Emergency crews were called to the home on Trillium Drive in Southwest Middlesex after it exploded just before 7 a.m. on March 27. All of the residents of the home made it out safely and no one was hurt in the blast.

The incident was deemed suspicious and the Ontario Fire Marshal was called to investigate.

Ontario Fire Marshal investigators have since determined the home exploded after a fire was intentionally set.

The OPP Crime Unit is asking anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in the lead up to the blast to call them at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
