Three London police cruisers damaged trying to stop stolen vehicle

Charges have been laid after a stolen vehicle crashed into three London police cruisers.

Police spotted the stolen vehicle in the area of Trafalgar Street and Lansdowne Avenue around 8:45 p.m. on Thursday. While attempting to get away from officers, the driver of the vehicle ended up crashing into three cruisers, causing an estimated $2,000 damage.

According to police, the driver refused to get out of the vehicle and resisted arrest before eventually being taken into custody.

Two sets of stolen licence plates were found inside the vehicle.

A 29-year-old man, of no fixed address, has been charged with dangerous driving, impaired operation of a vehicle, resisting arrest, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The man was scheduled to appear in London court in relation to the charges on Friday.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
