Man hit with wooden club outside homeless shelter

A man was sent to hospital after being hit in the head with a wooden club outside of a St. Thomas homeless shelter.

St. Thomas police were called to the shelter on Princess Avenue early Tuesday morning.

Officers determined a man struck another man with a large wooden club that had a screw sticking out of the side and then took off.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of a head wound.

A 32-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident a short time later. He has since been charged with aggravated assault.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
