Boil water advisory issued after watermain break

Residents in Vienna and Port Burwell are being told to boil their water after a watermain break.

Southwestern Public Health, the health unit for Oxford and Elgin counties, has issued a letter to residents advising the break on Nova Scotia Line Thursday may have compromised the water supply.

Water used for drinking, making baby formula or juice, brushing teeth or washing raw foods should be heated to a rolling boil for at least one minute before being used, the health unit said.

The boil water advisory will remain in place until tests confirm the water is safe for consumption.

Residents with questions about the boil water advisory are asked to call Southwestern's environmental health department at 519-631-9900.
