Impaired driving charges laid in fatal crash

One of the drivers involved in a collision in south London that claimed the life of a woman is now facing impaired driving charges.

London police announced Monday that charges had been laid in connection with the January 6 collision at Southdale Road and Nixon Avenue. According to police, two vehicles collided in the late afternoon. A 36-year-old woman behind the wheel of one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle, a 22-year-old man, had to be cut from the wreckage by firefighters. He was taken to hospital in critical condition.

The name of the deceased woman is not being released at the request of her family.

On Monday, police announced that Clay Kuzio, 22, of London is charged with impaired operation of a conveyance causing death and dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death.

He is scheduled to appear in court on July 12, 2022.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
