Manslaughter charge laid in fatal overdose

A London man has been charged with manslaughter, accused of providing the fentanyl that led to a fatal overdose.

According to police, emergency crews responded to a parking lot on Exeter Road near Wellington Road at around 4:40 a.m. on December 21, 2021. When they arrived, they found an unresponsive man. He was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy determined the man died of a fentanyl overdose.

An investigation by the London Police Service Major Crimes Section has led to a charge of manslaughter against Raed Ghanem, 35, of London. Police allege he sold the fentanyl to the man who died.

Anyone with information related to this case is asked to call London police or Crime Stoppers.
