Oxford OPP officer hurt in two-vehicle crash

A provincial police officer had to be taken to hospital after a two-vehicle crash northeast of Woodstock.

The crash between a grey SUV and a police cruiser happened at the intersection of Oxford Road 33 and 16th Line in East-Zorra Tavistock Township around 8 a.m. on Wednesday. The force of the crash sent the police cruiser off of the road into the grassy ditch, narrowly missing a hydro pole.

Oxford OPP said the officer was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There is no word on whether the driver of the other vehicle was hurt.

Oxford Road 33 between 15th Line and 17th Line was closed for several hours while police investigated the cause of the crash. The road was reopened around 10:30 a.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
