Norfolk OPP arrest Jamaican man in alleged sexual assault

Provincial police in Norfolk County have arrested a man from Jamaica accused of assaulting two young girls at a pond in Delhi last spring.

The incident happened during the evening of May 27, 2021. Officers were called to investigate an alleged sexual assault at a swimming pond on William Street.

During the incident, two young females were swimming when three adults are said to have approached them. While talking, the two girls allege one of the adults sexually assaulted both of them while the other two people were swimming close by.

On Wednesday, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) announced charges against a 33-year-old man from Manchester, Jamaica. He is charged with two counts of sexual assault on a person under 16.

He remains in police custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Simcoe at a later date.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
