Teen charged in Pride flag vandalism

A teenager is now facing charges in connection with the vandalism and theft of Pride flags in Norwich.

Oxford OPP announced Monday that a 16-year-old is charged with two counts of theft under $5,000. Police began an investigation after Pride flags that had been put up in downtown Norwich were either damaged or ripped from their posts between May 20 and May 24.

The name of the accused is not being released due to their age.

While one arrest has been made, police believe there are others who were involved. They continue to work to identify additional suspects.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
