Teens hit with pepper spray, baton

A 16-year-old has been charged after police say several teens were hit with pepper spray during an altercation.

Police say they were called to the area of King Street and Maitland Street just before noon Wednesday regarding a disturbance involving several youths.

"The investigation revealed that at least three youths were pepper sprayed, and another was struck by a baton," police said. "The victims were assessed by paramedic services, and there were no serious injuries reported."

The victims and the suspect knew each other, according to police.

A 16-year-old, who cannot be named because of his age, was arrested following the incident. He has been charged with three counts of assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon and will appear in court in relation to the charges on July 18.
