The City of London is asking residents to vote on various potential projects they would like to see come to fruition within their neighbourhood.
City officials have unveiled the 2022 Neighbourhood Decision Making Program filled with lists of ideas aimed at enhancing local neighbourhoods on which Londoners can have a say. This year, 230 ideas were submitted by residents. Of those, 79 have been turned into project proposals.
"From playground upgrades to murals and community parties to outdoor exercise equipment, Londoners submitted a diverse range of ideas to enhance their neighbourhoods," said Neighbourhood Development Manager Karen Oldham.
Londoners of all ages may vote for up to three ideas in Central, Northeast, Northwest, Southeast or Southwest London.
"Residents, whether they are new to London or too young to vote in a civic election, are encouraged to cast their vote to determine how a portion of the municipal budget will be spent," Oldham said.
Some ideas include planting shade trees near playgrounds in Northwest London, exercise equipment at parks in Northeast London, accessible swings in Central London, a community pantry in Southwest London, and agility equipment and improvements at the Pottersburg dog park in Southeast London.
Voting opens on June 18 and runs until June 25. Residents can choose to cast their votes several ways, either online or in-person at a local public library branch, or by calling 519-661-8410. Voting in-person or by phone will only be available on June 25 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
