St. Thomas woman charged with assault

Charges have been laid against a St. Thomas woman after an assault that left one person hurt.

St. Thomas police were called about the assault at The INN shelter at 10 Princess Avenue south of Talbot Street around 5 a.m. on Sunday. One person was attacked with a weapon.

Police did not specify what type of weapon was used in the assault.

The victim suffered minor injuries.

A 37-year-old woman was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and breaching release conditions. She has been released from police custody with a future court date.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
