Fire at SoHo playground considered suspicious

The London Fire Department says damage is estimated at almost $90,000 after fire damaged some playground equipment in a SoHo neighbourhood park.

Fire crews were called to Richard B. Harrison Park on South Street around 2 p.m. Wednesday. In video posted to the fire department's Twitter account, a firefighter can be seen hosing down potential hot spots.

The fire department says the blaze did $87,000 worth of damage.

On Thursday morning, London police confirmed the blaze has been deemed as "suspicious in nature" and members of the police street crime unit and fire officials are continuing to investigate.

Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
