Charge laid after cyclist assaulted

A London man has been arrested in connection with an incident that saw a cyclist punched in the face.

London police were called to the area of Adelaide Street and Kipps Lane around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 23. Investigators determined that a man was riding his bike when he was assaulted.

In a tweet late that day, Dawn Fyn said her husband was riding his bike to work when he called out a driver who was blocking the entrance to the bike lane.

"Today he hollered at someone blocking the bike lane entrance," the June 23 tweet said. "That person then drove to the next block and when the light turned red, he got out of the car and punched my husband."

Police say the cyclist suffered minor injuries.

In a media released issued Monday, police said a 45-year-old London man is charged with one count of assault.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in online anonymously to London Elgin Middlesex Crime Stoppers.
