Ride-share driver accused of sexually assaulting passenger

A London man is facing charges after a woman was forcibly confined and sexually assaulted inside of a vehicle she ordered from a ride-share service.

The woman requested the lift through the unnamed ride-share service around 8:40 p.m. on Saturday. The driver did not take her to the requested address though and instead veered off course and pulled over. The woman demanded the driver unlock the doors so she could get out of the vehicle, but he did not.

The woman yelled for help as the driver proceeded to touch her in a sexual manner, London police said.

She finally managed to get the door unlocked and ran from the vehicle, flagging down a passerby for help.

Police were called and located a suspect about 20 minutes later.

The woman was not physically hurt.

A 67-year-old London man has been charged with one count each of forcible confinement and sexual assault. He is scheduled to appear in London court in relation to the charges on August 15.
