Human remains found in Zorra Township

Provincial police are investigating the discovery of human remains in Zorra Township.

Oxford OPP officers were called to the undisclosed location on private property around 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Police are not specifying where in the township the remains were found out of respect for the property owner.

An autopsy will be done to determine the approximate time and cause of death, police said.

The investigation, which is in its early stages, is being conducted by the OPP major crime unit and forensic identification services, along with officials from the office of the chief coroner of Ontario.

Police believe this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety.

More information about the grisly discovery will be released when it becomes available, police said.
