Pair of motorcyclists face charges after crash near Port Stanley

Two young motorcycle riders face consequences after colliding into one another outside Port Stanley early Sunday morning.

Just before 1 a.m. June 26, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Elgin County responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Carlow Road.

Officers arrived on scene where they determined two motorcycles were travelling north when they crashed. Both drivers were taken to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

OPP have since laid charges against one of the drivers, a 20-year-old London man accused of impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 80 milligrams.

The second rider, a 21-year-old from Strathroy was issued a three-day licence suspension after a roadside screening test was given.

This incident marks the fourth reported crash involving motorcycles in Elgin County after OPP responded to three other crashes in the region throughout Sunday.

Police say the pair will appear in court in St. Thomas at later dates.
