Woman charged after St. Thomas cop hit, spat on

Charges have been laid against a 24-year-old woman accused of striking and spitting on a St. Thomas police officer.

Police were called to a disturbance on Princess Avenue on Monday. No details about the disturbance itself were released, but responding officers arrested a woman.

While trying to take her into custody, the woman is alleged to have hit and spat on an officer, police said.

She was taken to police headquarters where a search turned up a small amount of crystal methamphetamine.

The woman, whose name was not released, has been charged with one count each of assaulting a peace officer and drug possession.
