East London restaurant worker threatened with knife

Charges have been laid against a London man after a restaurant employee was threatened with a knife in the city's Argyle area.

The reported incident happened inside of a restaurant on Clarke Road near Wavell Street just after 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday. A man approached the female worker, pulled out a knife and proceeded to make threats.

The man then took off from the eatery and the woman, who was not physically hurt, called London police.

Officers arrested a suspect about five minutes later. A search of that individual turned up a knife, police said.

A 25-year-old London man has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon, and uttering threats of death or bodily harm.

He is scheduled to appear in London court in relation to the charges on July 28.
