Two charged in downtown gunfire

London police say two people now face charges after shots were fired in the downtown area in late May.

It was on May 27 when police were called to Richmond Street near Dufferin Ave for reports of gunfire around 2 a.m. Investigators determined that a gun had been fired after there was an altercation inside of an establishment. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.

On Friday, police announced charges against two people.

Ahmed Abdalla Hashim, 19, of Toronto is charged with pointing a firearm, discharging a firearm with intent to wound/endanger life, occupying a vehicle with a firearm, possession of a regulated firearm, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without a licence, and possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.

Police say Hashim has not been located.

Althea Christopher, 19, of London is in police custody and is charged with occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm and being an accessory after the fact to an indictable offence.

Anyone with information in relation to Hashim's whereabouts is asked to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in online anonymously to London Elgin Middlesex Crime Stoppers.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
