OPP conduct search warrants in Parkhill, lay charges

Two Parkhill men face charges after the Ontario Provincial Police swooped down on multiple addresses in Parkhill.

Police from the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team, the K-9 Unit, and Community Street Crime Units from five different OPP detachments executed four search warrants simultaneously on Emily Street in Parkhill Wednesday morning.

The investigation is ongoing.

A 25-year-old man from Parkhill is charged with break-and-enter, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and possession of an opioid, a schedule I substance.

He was released from police custody with a date to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice.

A second Parkhill man, who is 27, faces three counts of break-and-enter, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of a schedule I substance, and failure to comply with a release order.

That suspect is being held in custody for a bail hearing.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
