Fire at vacant south London building deemed suspicious

Police and fire officials believe a fire at a vacant building in south London was intentionally set.

Firefighters were called to 120 Weston Street, near Fairview Avenue around 9 p.m. Sunday where a dumpster inside the building had been set ablaze.

Crews quickly extinguished the fire and no injuries were reported.

Damage is estimated at approximately $10,000.

"The fire was deemed to be suspicious in nature and the investigation was assigned to members of the London Police Service Street Crime Unit, with the assistance of the London Fire Department," London police said on Monday.
