More construction, more detours in London

As of Monday, Ridout Street will be closed to all traffic from Thames Park to Horton Street for the Victoria Bridge reconstruction project.

For vehicular traffic, a signed detour will be in place along Commissioners Road, Wellington Road, Wharncliffe Road, and Horton Street.

For pedestrians, the section of the Thames Valley Parkway beneath the bridge will also be closed, a detour in the trail and a temporary bridge have been put in place.

Two bus routes will also be affected during this time. Routes 4 and 15 will be detoured along Grand Avenue, Carfrae Crescent and Richmond Street.

The City of London will replace the current bridge, built in 1926, with a new "through arch" design. The new bridge will be wider, in an effort to better accommodate bicycle traffic and pedestrians, and improve connectivity with the Thames Valley Parkway.

Road work on Ridout Street extending from the Horton Street intersection to Ingleside Place will proceed alongside the bridge replacement.

The construction project is scheduled to last until the spring of 2023.
