London man sought in April kidnapping

London police are hoping the public can help them track down a 37-year-old man wanted in connection with the kidnapping of a woman and her child.

The bizarre incident started around 7 p.m. on April 17 when a man found one of his vehicle's windows smashed in the area of Bradley Avenue and Veterans Memorial Parkway. The man confronted another man who was nearby at the time and the pair began fighting.

A woman who was passing by then stopped to ask if either man needed help. It was at this time one of the men got into her vehicle and demanded she drive away. The woman, whose child was inside the vehicle, drove the man to a location outside of the city, where he then got out without further incident, police said.

The woman immediately called 911 to report what had happened. Officers searched the area but were unable to find the man.

Through further investigation, police were able to identify a suspect last Tuesday.

James Edward Carrol, 37, of London is now charged by way of warrant with two counts of kidnapping, mischief under $5,000, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Police released a photo of Carrol to the public on Tuesday. They ask anyone who sees him not to approach, but to call 911 immediately.
