'Large amount' of stolen property found, St. Thomas man charged

Charges have been laid against a St. Thomas man after a rash of residential break-ins just outside the city.

Elgin OPP were called about a suspicious person near Wellington Road and McBain Line, in the Lynhurst area early Wednesday morning.

Officers found a man with a large amount of stolen property that was linked to several recent nearby break-ins, police said.

A 33-year-old man from St. Thomas was arrested and has been charged with nine offences including breaking and entering, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, mischief under $5,000, failure to comply with probation and failure to comply with release order.

Police are asking anyone in the Lynhurst area who is missing property to call them at 1-888-310-1122.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
