Charge laid in stabbing death

London police have identified and charged a suspect in the city's fourth homicide of the year.

Devon Cherrey-Rooke, 31, of London was found suffering from a critical stab wound in the Home Depot parking lot in the area of Dundas Street and Clarke Road around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday. He was taken to hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Police publicly identified Cherrey-Rooke on Tuesday. They also confirmed the 31-year-old’s cause of death was from a stab wound.

On Thursday, police announced that they have charged a man who knew the victim.

Antony Centeno-So, 27, of London, has been charged by way of warrant of arrest for second degree murder. Police have not yet located him. Anyone who sees him is asked to call London police at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

This is London’s fourth homicide of 2022 and the second as a result of a stabbing. Stephen Hutchinson, 66, died in hospital after being found suffering from a stab wound in the area of Springbank Drive and Wharncliffe Road on January 31. Gregory Cane, 38, of London was charged with second degree murder in connection with Hutchinson’s death.
