Police investigating fatal farming incident

The death of an individual operating a tobacco harvester is being investigated by police and the Ministry of Labour.

The Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), OPP Forensic Identification Services, and Norfolk County Paramedic Services responded to a Windham East Quarter Line Road address at approximately 9:39 a.m. on Sunday.

Police reported that the driver of  a tobacco harvester suffered life-threatening injuries while harvesting. The driver was later pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The identity of the victim is being withheld as police work to notify the next-of-kin.

The investigation is ongoing in collaboration with Ontario's Ministry of Labour.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
