Charges have been laid against a London man after a woman was attacked by a sword-wielding acquaintance who allegedly locked her in a bathroom with her mouth taped shut.
The woman was hanging out with "casual acquaintances" at a home on Conway Drive, west of Ernest Avenue around 3 a.m. on Monday when she began arguing with a man. During the verbal confrontation, the man assaulted the woman with a knife, London police said.
The man is then alleged to have grabbed a sword and threatened the woman while forcing her into a bathroom. The woman's mouth was taped shut and her cellphone was taken.
The woman managed to escape shortly after 8 a.m. and called police. She was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Roughly two hours later, members of the police emergency response unit arrested a suspect on Conway Drive.
Kamran Abdoul Mohammed Abdullah, 38, of London has been charged with aggravated assault, robbery, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, and forcible confinement.
He remains in police custody and is scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charges on Wednesday.
