Homeowner confronts thieves during break-in

Three people are in custody after an armed break-and-enter that brought a heavy police presence to an area southwest of London.

Two masked individuals, armed with a gun and a bat, broke into a home on Bells Road in Middlesex Centre around 9 p.m. Wednesday. They were confronted by the homeowner, who was able to get away and call police.

Officers with the OPP emergency response team and canine unit flooded the area.

One suspect was arrested in a vehicle, while two others were found walking not far from the home.

A firearm was recovered and no injuries were reported, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
