UPDATE: Crews respond to gas leak at east London apartment complex

Residents at an east London apartment building were displaced after a natural gas leak was detected late Tuesday afternoon.

London fire officials responded to a "major natural gas leak" at an apartment complex on Oakville Avenue sometime around 5 p.m. Tenants inside 88 Oakville were told to evacuate while firefighters waited for Enbridge workers to arrive.

At around 9:45 p.m., fire crews announced they were clearing the area after Enbridge shut off the gas, allowing residents back inside.

No other details about the cause of the leak have been provided.
