Pedestrian in search of fuel hit by passing vehicle on Highway 401

A driver who ran out of gas on Highway 401 west of Woodstock is lucky to be alive after being hit by a passing vehicle.

The person pulled their vehicle over from the westbound lanes of the busy highway near Dodge Line, west of Sweaburg Road after running out of fuel around 3:20 a.m. on Wednesday.

According to Oxford OPP, the person then got out of the vehicle and was hit by a passing vehicle that did not stop. The individual was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are trying to track down the vehicle that struck the pedestrian and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to call them at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
