Neighbour assaulted with saw in tree trimming dispute

A tree trimming disagreement between neighbours in St. Thomas ended with one charged with two serious offences.

St. Thomas police were called to a disturbance outside of a home in the city on Wednesday. When officers arrived, they determined two people had been in an argument over the trimming of a tree. The dispute escalated with a man allegedly assaulting his neighbour with a saw.

No serious injuries were reported.

A 74-year-old St. Thomas man was arrested. He has since been charged with assault with a weapon and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

The man has been released from police custody with a future court date.
