Drugs, loaded gun seized after vehicle rolls into police cruiser

London police are searching for a man who allegedly ran from a vehicle that had drugs and a loaded handgun inside.

Officers were in the area of Colborne and Hill streets when they saw a grey sedan "perform an illegal driving maneuver" around 9:30 p.m. on Friday. The vehicle then pulled into a laneway, where the driver hopped out and ran from the area, police said.

The abandoned vehicle, which was not in park, rolled backward into the marked police cruiser.

Damage was minor.

Multiple police officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the driver.

A search of the vehicle turned up a variety of drugs worth an estimated $1,655 and a loaded handgun.

Investigators announced on Wednesday they have obtained an arrest warrant for 38-year-old Travis Boyko of London in relation to the incident. He faces 15 charges including possession of a loaded restricted firearm, possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, possession of a firearm knowing the serial number has been altered, possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, stunt driving, driving while under suspension, and possession of stolen property obtained by crime.

Anyone who sees Boyko is advised not to approach him but to call 911 immediately.
