Stranger found inside unlocked Port Dover home

A recent incident in Port Dover is serving as a reminder to always keep your doors locked.

At around 12:30 p.m. Friday, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Norfolk County were called to a home on First Avenue after a resident reported that an unknown man had entered their home.

The homeowner told police that at around 6:30 that morning, they woke up and found the stranger sitting on their living room couch. The suspect was told to leave the dwelling and he took off in an unknown direction.

"Police are reminding all homeowners to ensure that all doors and windows are secured in order to prevent anyone from gaining access to their residence," a release from the OPP read.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
