Strathroy father scratches way to $150K lotto win

A father of five in Strathroy was left stunned when a simple scratch ticket earned him an extra $150,000.

Brian Minns won the six-figure prize on the Bigger Spin Instant Game.

"As I was playing my ticket, I immediately knew I won,” the 65-year-old said while claiming his winnings at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “I went to the store to validate it to make sure, and I was completely stunned.”

Minns shared the news with his wife before telling anyone else about his good fortune.

"She was very shocked. We sat outside by the fire for a few hours to take it all in," said Minns.

He said he plans to use the money for his retirement and to help out his grandkids.

The winning scratcher was purchased from Ryan’s Mini Mart on Albert Street in Strathroy.
