UPDATE: Body found in southeast London pond

The discovery of a body in a stormwater pond early Monday afternoon has led to a London police investigation.

Police responded to the area of Jackson Road and Evans Boulevard, just east of Highbury Avenue and north of Bradley Avenue, at around 12:20 p.m., when a citizen called 911 after locating what appeared to be a human body in a pond.

"Upon police arrival, an individual was located in the river, and that individual was found to be deceased," a release from the London Police Service read.

The investigation is still in its early stages and has been reassigned to the Major Crime Section. Police said Tuesday that the body is that of an adult male and that the death does not appear to be suspicious in nature.

The identity of the individual has not been released.
