Charges laid in east London shooting

London police say a suspect has been identified and charged after a shooting at an east end townhouse complex on the weekend.

According to police, it happened around 3:15 on Saturday in a parking lot on Bonaventure Drive north of Admiral Drive. During this time, London police say a firearm was discharged and one person was hurt.

The incident initially went unreported according to police officials. London police officials were notified about the shooting on Sunday, when officers were sent to do a welfare check on an individual at the same complex.

Officers, who were unaware of the shooting at the time, arrived and found evidence that someone was injured in the parking lot. A victim was not located during the check. During an investigation, police learned that a man was in hospital with “significant injuries.”

On Tuesday, police announced that 46-year-old Mickey Lacourse of London has been charged by way of warrant with aggravated assault, discharging a firearm with intent to wound or endanger life, unauthorized use of a prohibited or restricted firearm, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without a licence, possession of a loaded regulated firearm, possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, and breach of probation.

Police are still looking for Lacourse (shown above). Anyone who sees him is asked to call police or 9-1-1. Police say he should not be approached.
