Downtown stabbing leaves man with serious injuries

An early morning stabbing in the downtown has left one person in hospital and another facing charges.

The violent clash happened on Richmond Street near Hyman Street around 3 a.m. on Wednesday.

A man who was walking in the area was approached by a man he did not know. The pair got into an argument which ended with one of the men stabbing the other, London police said in a statement.

Emergency crews were called to the scene and the stabbing victim was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Officers arrested a suspect nearby.

A 26-year-old London man has since been charged with aggravated assault and breach of probation. He was scheduled to appear in London court Wednesday.
