Knife held to man's throat during robbery in St. Thomas

Police in St. Thomas are searching for a suspect after a knife was held to a man's neck during a robbery on a local path.

The man was walking on a trail between Athletic Park and Hiawatha Street around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday when he was stopped by a person holding a knife. The person put the knife to the man's throat and demanded his cellphone.

The man was cut as he pushed the suspect to escape. He then ran from the scene and was helped by another person on Hiawatha Street.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a man, approximately 6' tall, with a thin build, light skin, a short beard that gets longer towards his chin, a long nose, and thin lips. He was wearing a dark hat possibly with a Nike swoosh on it and a puffy spring coat.
