Suspect sought in south London carjacking

London police are searching for a suspect after a man and woman were carjacked over the weekend.

The pair were seated in a running vehicle in a parking lot on Southdale Road East just west of Wellington Road South when they were approached by a man they did not know around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday.

The man allegedly pulled out a gun and demanded the two get out of the car and give him their cellphones. He then got into the driver's seat and took off in the vehicle, heading east from the parking lot, police said.

No injuries were reported.

The two stolen cellphones were found nearby.

Police described the suspect as a Black man with a slim build. He was wearing all dark clothing at the time of the robbery. The stolen vehicle is a 2013 four-door Silver Mazda M3I, with Ontario licence plates CMDA 607.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at London Police Service at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
