Police make arrest in West London hit and run; one person still in hospital

A London man has been charged after a hit and run crash that sent two pedestrians to hospital.

Emergency crews were called about a collision in the area of Fiddlers Green Road and Oxford Street West around 10:30 p.m. Monday. When they arrived on scene, they found two pedestrians had been hit by a vehicle and the person driving had left the scene.

Earlier this week, police had asked the public for help with their investigation.  On Friday, police announced they had arrested a suspect.

Dean Hammond, 47, is charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm and two counts of failing to stop after accident causing bodily harm.

Hammond appeared in court on Friday.

One of the two pedestrians who was hit has since been released from hospital.

In their most recent update, London Police said the other person hit remained in hospital with life threatening injuries.

Police have not released any information about the age or gender of the two people hurt in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
