Marion Boyd, a former provincial cabinet minister who represented London at Queen's Park, has died.
Boyd was 76.
She served in Bob Rae's government from 1990-1995, and was re-elected when Rae was swept out of office, losing London North-Centre to Dianne Cunningham in 1999.
Boyd's arrival on the political scene was a surprise. Her first election victory in London Centre was over then-Premier David Peterson.
Appointed immediately to Rae's cabinet, Boyd eventually became the province's Attorney General. She was the first woman to hold that role.
Several New Democrat MPPs took to Twitter to express their sadness following Boyd's death.

London West MPP Peggy Sattler called Boyd an "incomparable, formidable and inspiring mentor", while NDP leadership candidate Marit Stiles called Boyd "beautiful, powerful".

An obituary for Boyd says she died in Inverhuron, not far from Kincardine.
