Downtown assault leads to charges

A London man is facing charges after an assault in the downtown core.

Around 11:55 p.m. Saturday, police were called to the area of Talbot and King Streets in regards to a man who was said to be in possession of a weapon.

According to police, the man had caused damage to an area business before trying to take off.

"As witnesses attempted to restrain the male, both were assaulted," police said. "The male fled the area on foot and was arrested a short distance away without incident."

Injuries to the victims were minor, police said.

A 23-year-old man is now charged with mischief under $5,000 and two counts of assault with a weapon.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
